Anna Marie Brusge, 93, formerly of Ionia died Wednesday, May 15, 1996 in Grand 
Junction, Colo.  She was born Aug. 14, 1902 in Grand Rapids, the daughter of 
Otto and Marie (Winzig) Busch.  She grew up in Grand Rapids and attended St. 
Mary’s Catholic Church and school.  She married Frank Brusge and the couple 
owned and operated Brusge Awning, Tent and Auto Trim of Ionia from 1925 to 
1974.  He preceded her in death in 1974 after 54 years of marriage.

Brusge was a former member and officer of the Women of the Moose #998 of 
Ionia, a former Antlerette of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks #548 of 
Ionia and a former devoted member of SS. Peter and Paul’s’ Catholic Church of 
Ionia prior to moving to Torrance, Calif. in 1974.

She is survived by nine grandchildren: Dan Spear, of Breckenridge, Colo., 
Brock Spear, of Redondo Beach, Calif., Tammie Yanowich, of Grand Junction, 
Colo., Randy Spear, of Fenwick and Del Brusge, Perry Brusge, Gayle Brusge, 
Jack Brusge and Janice Brusge, all of Grand Rapids; 12 great-grandchildren; 
one great-great-grandchild; brother, Henry Busch, of Grand Rapids; and several 
nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Brusge was preceded in death by one 
son, Robert “Bob” Henry Brusge, one daughter, Noreen Ann Spear and six 
brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, May 19 at Myers Memorial Chapel 
in Ionia with Fr. Julian Reginato of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Portland 
officiating.  Interment will be in Easton Cemetery.  All arrangements have 
been made by the Myers Memorial Chapel of Ionia.
