PORTLAND- Jess "Jay" A. Brust, age 77, passed away on Thursday, November 15, 
2012. He was born on July 28, 1935 in Brookland, Arkansas the son of Jess and 
Zora (Walker) Brust.

Mr. Brust was a member of the First Baptist Church in Portland, and retired 
from General Motors after 30 years of service. Jay loved traveling with his 
wife, had a love of fishing in Canada, riding his 4 X 4, and especially 
spending time with his 5 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 1 great-
great grandchild.

Preceding him in death were his parents; siblings, Delbert Hedger, Gracie 
Price, Lou Kuhner, and Oma Anderson. Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Nora 
Brust; daughter, Barbara (Duane) Miller; grandchildren, Patricia (fiancée Brian 
Hopkins) Minier, Jason (Ricki) Miller, Eryn (John) Bastian, Kevin Griffin, and 
Ashley Brust; 11 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; sisters, Hattie 
(Bill) Bridger and Maxine Summers.

A Memorial Service was held at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 21at the American 
Legion Post, 731 N. Clinton (M-100), Grand Ledge, MI. A Memorial Service will 
also be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 23, 2012 at the First Baptist 
Church, 406 E. Bridge Street, Portland, with Pastor Bruce Sabados presiding. A 
luncheon will follow services on Saturday at the church. Arrangements are 
entrusted to Lehman Funeral Homes, Portland. Online condolences may be made at
