Although she had never fully recovered from a stroke of paralysis that overtook her about two years ago, however, she has not been seriously ill since, and had seemed in her usual spirits. The funeral was held from the South Berlin church on Tuesday forenoon at 11 o’clock, and was conducted by Rev. Wilcox of this village, assisted by Rev. Colgrove, of South Berlin. The remains were interred in Lakeside. Mary Ann Hess was born December 25th, 1855, at Frankfort, Germany. At the age of two years she moved to Berlin, Canada, with her parents, where she lived until the age of five years, then she moved to Ionia county, Michigan, with Mr. and Mrs. John Schneider with whom she afterwards lived, and grew to young womanhood. She was married to Charles D. Buche, on March 20th, 1875, and to this happy union there has been born nine children, of which six survive, all of whom are living at and near home, but one son, who is at Detroit. Mrs. Buche was a member of the South Berlin Aid society, and has been an active Christian worker, and most highly respected by all who have ever met and knew her. The entire community in which she lived feels as though her demise is a serious blow to that section, and coming as it did, with but little warning, it was naturally a shock to her relatives and sorrowing friends. The sisters of the Aid society of which she was a member, secured a beautiful floral piece which was placed on the casket at her funeral, in this mute way showing somewhat the sorrow that had taken from them a dear companion and co-worker.
