Buche, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend, died on Jan. 30, 2005 at the age of 46 after a courageous battle with cancer. Suzanne was the co-owner of Gibsons Bookstore for the past 20 years. She was an active supporter of the Portland Schools athletic program and attended both her daughter Danielle and her son, Bridger, sports activities even when her health was failing. She was a devoted wife and mother. Her vivacious personality, generous spirit, and loving manner will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. Surviving are her loving husband, Matt Buche; daughter, Danielle; son, Bridger; parents, Charles and Nancy Poquette; brothers, Ben (Nora) Poquette and David (Amy) Poquette; sisters, Pam (Ross) Rossiter and Nanette (David) Negrette; aunt, Sally (Frank) Crandall; brothers-in-law, John (Janet) Buche and Steve (Peg) Buche; sisters-in-law; Jean Woltz, Beth Ainsworth, and Amy (Jimmy) O’Brien; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held on Feb. 4 at The People’s Church in East Lansing. Memorial contributions may be made to the Suzanne J. Buche Memorial Scholarship Fund for Athlete’s at Portland High School or to the American Cancer Society, in memory of Suzanne J. Buche.
