Ionia Daily Standard, 29 Dec 1898

The death of Ed. V. Buck was sudden and sad.  He had only been ailing since 
Saturday last, on which day he was actively at his work at the store, but as a 
precautionary measure took to his bed.  The cause of death was peritonitis.  
Deceased was aged 29 years, and was born in this city, where he was always a 
social favorite.  The young wife and beautiful 3-years old child have the 
sincerest sympathy of the community in their deep grief.  The bereaved wife is 
nearly prostrated.  The funeral will be on Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock, 
from the rooms where he died, in the residence of Dr. Defendorf, Main St.  He 
was a member of Lucullus lodge of the Knights of Pythias, and of Wabasis Tent 
of the Maccabees. Funeral private.
