We have partially learned the particulars of a fatal accident which occurred in Lyons village Thursday afternoon. The particulars which have come to our knowledge are these. Two teams started out of the village going towards Portland, each having on board a rather jovial company. The forward driver who had a buggy, went about opposite Peter Coon’s barn, beckoned to the teamster in the rear to come on, intimating that it was a good place to go by. In making the attempt to pass the vehicles got hitched together in some way so that the occupants of the buggy were violently thrown out upon the ground. Mr. Lafayette Buckbee, a middle aged man was in the buggy and was pitched out headfirst, breaking his neck in the fall, from the effects of which he died in a short time. A young man by the name of Gidds was injured, but not seriously. — Ionia Gazette File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/mi/ionia/obits/b/buckbee29058nob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.net/mifiles/ File size: 1.5 Kb
