When her husband came in from his work the night before he found her suffering from a light stroke. She seemed to be conscious that the end was near and requested that Rev. D. E. Millard preach her funeral sermon. Her friends thought her condition improved later on, but a second stroke carried her away. Funeral services were held at the home Friday morning and burial was made in Sebewa. Lydia Wakely was the maiden name of deceased and she married Nathaniel Buell in Toledo, Ontario, October 16, 1865. They came to Portland 37 years ago and for the last 21 years had resided in Sebewa. She was a sister of Mrs. Nelson Aldrich and a half sister of Mrs. Ed. Hamlin, of Portland. Lester Wakely, of Sebewa, is a brother. Her children are Mrs. Fred Balderson, Portland, and Mrs. Fred Gunn, Sebewa.
