Bunce, 57 years old, at his home at 409 Front street, Tuesday morning at about 3:15. Mr. Bunce, who with his family had spent the winter in Texas, had been working at his post at fireman and nightwatch at the hosiery mill since his return the latter part of March. With his family he had started back by automobile, but when motor trouble held them up at Texarkana, he came on ahead in order to be on time to resume his position. He arrived about 10 days before the other members of his family. He contracted a severe cold which did not leave him and while he had not complained of any special illness and had not consulted a doctor for some time, had complained of feeling continually tired and worn out. He had, however, continued at his work, working from 2 o’clock in the afternoon until 10 at night, and after he came home from his work Monday night; he had retired at about 11 o’clock. At about 3:15 Mrs. Bunce heard him breathing heavily and when she called to him and received no response she discovered that he was already dead. Dr. Ray Price was called and pronounced death due to a heart attack. Coroner Dale Kaufman of Ionia concurred in this cause and stated there would be no need of an inquest. Mr. Bunce had lived in this city for the greater part of his life. On May 20, 1916, he was united in marriage to Miss Lydia Butts, who, with a daughter, Anita, at home, and two sons, M/Sgt. Richard Bunce of Selfridge Field, and Verner, of this city, together with five sisters, survive. Funeral services are to be held this Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Fales-Huffman Funeral Home with Rev. J. Ray Gillham, pastor of the Methodist church of which he was a member, officiating, and burial will be in River Ridge cemetery. Mr. Bunce was a fine citizen and a man who made friends and was liked by all who met him.
