Bunker was born in Portland, Mich. March 7, 1843 and died at his daughter's in Barryton, June 3, 1913 at the age of 70 years,2 months, 26 days. He enlisted Sept 3, 1861 in the 9th Michigan infantry, and served three years or during the war. The following are among some of the principal battles in which he fought: Murfreesboro, Stone River, Chickamauga Mission Ridge,Ressca, Dallas, Kenesaw, Chattahoche River and Siege of Atlanta. He was discharged with his regiment at Nashville, Tennessee. Sept.15,1865. He was a member of the V. O. Bretz Post 382, G. A. R. Lake Odessa. He had two brothers in the service. In August 1867 he was married to Harriett N.Kinney . To this union were born three children, Evie Chapman of Barryton; Elle Louisa, died July 25, 1891, and Jessie Myers of Blanchard. Aug. 24,1900 his wife died and three years later he was married to Mrs.Ester Longly of Clarksville. his two daughters, and one brother, and his two step sons Uri and Nate Longly one stepdaughter, Mrs.Laura Post and left to mourn their loss, besides hosts of friends. In life he was religiously inclined being a member of the U. B. church at West Odessa when here, and from these sacred and hallowed influences he never parted. He was good, kind and faithful and will be missed by all who knew him.
