Smyrna – Mrs. Mary Burd passed from this life July 24, 1896, at the home of her
sister, Mrs. Effie Itzenhouser near Coral.  The remains were brought to Smyrna,
Sunday, funeral services were held at the church at 3 p.m., Rev. W. L. Munger of
Belding officiating.  Mrs. Burd was born in Akron, Ohio, October 3rd, 1842.  In
1856, she with her parents, moved to Ionia county, Michigan.  She was united in
marriage with Alexander Burd, May 15th, 1868.  Their union was blest with two
daughters, the oldest died when 18 years of age.  Her husband departed this life
in 1887.  She leaves one daughter, three sisters and two brothers to mourn her
loss.  She joined the Baptist church in Smyrna 28 years ago and remained a
consistant member until death.
