Susan R. Burdo, age 52, of Hamilton, GA. Died Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at her 
residence after a brief illness.  Mrs. Burdo was born April 16, 1955 in Ionia, 
Michigan the daughter of John L. and Caroline Smith Mowatt.  She had lived in 
Columbus since 1982 and had retired as a teacher for the Muscogee County 
School District.

Survivors include her husband, Ted Burdo of Hamilton, Georgia; a son, Edmund 
T. Burdo, II of Hamilton, Georgia; two brothers, John L. Mowatt and his wife, 
Diana, of Weston, Florida, and Bradley T. Mowatt and his wife, Beth, of Muir, 
Michigan; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday in Columbus, GA at Striffler-
Hamby Mortuary’s Mason Road Chapel with Dr. Brad Hicks officiating.  A 
graveside committal service will be held 1 p.m. Monday, July 23, 2007, Balkam 
Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, those so desiring may contribute to a favorite 
charity in memory of Mrs. Burdo.
