(Monte) Burger, 77, of 2619 Long Lake road, Orleans, died Sunday morning at the Blodgett Memorial hospital in Grand Rapids. Born in Lansing March 27, 1898, he was the son of Dr. Roy Burger and Luella Dean Burger. He was a veteran of World War I with the army ambulance corps, past commander and life member of the Hugo Fales post of the American Legion at Belding; past district commander and past zone commander of the American Legion and past chief of the Vioture of Ionia and Montcalm counties. He was a life member of the Elks lodge of Ionia and belonged to the Michigan Poultry Breeders association. He had lived in Ionia many years before going to the Long Lake where he owned and operated a resort. Among his survivors are a son, Robert of Holly; two daughters, Mrs. Jane E. Buchner of Lowell and Mrs. Peg Rice of Grand Rapids; eight grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Charles M. Courser funeral home in Belding Rev. Wilford D. Wood will officiate. Military services will be under the auspices of the Hugo-Fales American Legion post. Interment will be at the Orleans cemetery. Family members will be at the funeral home Monday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 8:30 p.m. A memorial has been established for the Michigan Heart Association.
