Burger, 87, mother of Mrs. Foster I. Huber of Ionia, died at the Ionia County Memorial hospital Wednesday where she had been a patient several weeks. A native of Vermontville, Mrs. Burger had lived most of her adult life in Benton Harbor where she was a school teacher in the Benton Harbor public schools until 1947. She was the daughter of Timothy and Eliza McGraw of Vermontville and moved to Benton Harbor when she was 12. She remained there until 1947 when she moved to Ionia to live with her daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Foster I. Huber of Rich street. Mrs. Burger was graduated from old Benton Harbor college and from Western Teacher’s college, now Western Michigan university. She was married in 1901 to Albert Henry Burger who died in 1922. She was a member of the Ionia Methodist church, Howard Circle, and Women’s Literary club. Surviving are two children, Mrs. Huber of Ionia and Mrs. H. W. Fowler of St. Joseph, four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted from Boynton Funeral home on Rich street at 11 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be at Crystal Springs cemetery, Benton Harbor.
