Julia M. Burk was born in North Plains township, Ionia county, March 21, 1849. 
When about three years old, she moved with her parents to North Shade township
on what is now known as the old Proctor homestead.

She was married to Wm. Burk, January 28, 1868, to which union was born, one
child, Mrs. G. E. Strickling.  Mr. Burk passed away in 1920.

Mrs. Burk died December 30, 1928, in Lansing at the home of her daughter, with
whom she has lived since the death of her husband.

She leaves to mourn, one daughter, Mrs. G. E. Strickling, one brother, George
Proctor, one granddaughter, Mrs. Bernard Hartle, one great-grand son, Billie
Chich, both of Lansing, besides a large circle of friends.  

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Hubbardston, conducted by
the pastor, Rev. Floyd Drake, Wednesday, January 2 with burial in West Side
cemetery.
