The Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard, Monday, October 29, 1962

John J. Burke, 83, lifelong resident of North Plains township, died Saturday 
night at Ionia County Memorial hospital.  He had been confined the past five 
weeks with a broken hip.

Mr. Burke was North Plains township treasurer 17 years and at the time of his 
death, was trustee for the township board having served in that capacity six 
years.

He was born August 30, 1879 in North Plains township.  Surviving are his wife, 
Catherine, and a brother, Thomas of Mason City, Iowa.

Funeral service will be conducted at 10 o’clock Wednesday morning at St. John 
The Baptist Catholic church in Hubbardston with burial at the church 
cemetery.  The body is at Burns funeral home in Carson City.
