The Ionia Standard, Friday, March 4, 1904

James, the 7 years old son of Ed. Burke, died on Friday. 

The sympathy of their many friends is with Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Burke in the death 
of their 9 years old son James, which occurred on Friday afternoon at 1 
o’clock. Funeral on Monday morning at 8 o’clock.

Subsequent Publication:  Friday, March 11, 1904

The funeral service for little James Burke was quite largely attended at the 
Church of SS. Peter & Paul Monday, and the remains were tenderly laid away in 
the Catholic cemetery.  The bearers were four of his former schoolmates: 
Willie McAlary, John Longe, Patrick Allen and Bruce O’Connell.

Transcriber’s Note:  There is a discrepancy in the age of James Burke, one 
publication stating 7 years and another 9 years.  They have been transcribed 
as written.
