Ionia Sentinel Standard, 3 Feb 2015

Mabel Burleigh, age 108, of Lake Odessa passed on Monday, Feb 2, 2015, at
Heartland Health care in Ionia, Mabel was born in Lake Odessa on May 23, 1906,
to Monroe and Alma (Robinson) Armour.

She was a 1924 graduate of Lake Odessa High School.  Mabel married Howard D.
Poff Oct. 31, 1926, and that union gave them four daughters.  Upon Howard’s
death on July 20, 1947, she went into business with Raymond Lapo as co-owner of
Poff-Lapo Sales and Services Inc., where she was also the bookkeeper.  On March
7, 1951 she married Clayton Burleigh who died in June 3, 1977.

She leaves behind four daughters, Mary Firth, Virginia Trumbell, Sylvia Williams
and Margaret (Pat) Maurer along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and
great-great grandchildren.  Preceding her in death are her parents, both
husbands Howard and Clayton, one sister and four brother along with three
son-in-laws.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2015, from 11 a.m. until service
time at 12 noon at the Koops Funeral Chapel, 935 4th Ave., Lake Odessa, MI
48849.  Memorials in Mabel’s name can be given to the Lake Odessa Historical
Society or the Hospice of Greater Lansing.
