Fred L. Burleson, 85, of 300 Summit St., Saranac, died Wednesday at Cherry 
Creek Nursing Home in Lowell.  He was born in Ionia County August 7, 1893, the 
son of William and Kate (Newland) Burleson.  He married Hazel Vaughan on 
August 25, 1917 in Saranac and they lived most of their lives in Saranac.

He was a member of the Master Masons of Boston Lodge.  He was also a member of 
the Saranac Community Church and the Congregators Club.

Besides his wife, survivors include one daughter, Mrs. William (June) Smith of 
Saranac, six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. from the Lake Funeral Home in 
Saranac with Rev. Edwin Mendenhall officiating.  Burial will be in Saranac 
Cemetery.  The family will receive friends and relatives at the funeral home 
from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday.  Contributions may be made to Mill 
Creek Meadows or Saranac Community Church in memory of Mr. Burleson.
