Mrs. Addie Butcher Burnett died at the home of her mother, Mrs. Anna Butcher, at 215 North Jackson street, on Friday evening about ten o’clock, the end not having been expected so soon, though she had been so very ill for about six weeks. Besides her mother, Mrs. Burnett leaves to survive her, two daughters of High school age, Ruth and Eunice, and a brother, Ernest Butcher, of Bozeman, Mont. Mr. Butcher arrived Friday afternoon, and was able to have a visit with his sister, shortly after which she fell asleep and did not wake again. Mrs. Burnett had spent most of her life in Ionia, having been born here in 1878, and after spending several years of married life away, she returned here to make her home with her mother. For several years she has been doing the work of a practical nurse, and recently, during the epidemic, has been working very hard and continuously, until her own health was spent, and she gave out, in a way, literally giving her life for others. Mrs. Burnett as a girl was one of the most popular girls of Ionia and when she came back and renewed her acquaintance here with her old friends, she lost none of her old charm, but had renewed it in a life of unselfishness and usefulness. Funeral service at the home where she died, on Sunday afternoon at 2:30, Rev. E. E. Branch officiating. Interment in the family lot in Oak Hill.
