Burnett, 60, died at her home, 322 E. Washington St., at 12:40 Monday morning, October 16. She had been ill for several years and since early in May had been in bed with nurses in constant attendance. June C. Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter T. Smith, was born in Stanton, June 1, 1884. The family moved to Ionia about 40 years ago and June attended Ionia high school from which she was graduated in 1903. Two years later, on June 1, 1905, she was united in marriage with Asa M. Burnett, and all of their married life has been spent in Ionia. Mrs. Burnett was a member of the Ionia Country Club, Elks Women’s League, Women of the Moose and St. Johns Episcopal church and Guild. She took a keen interest in and was a tireless worker in all of these organizations until failing health made it impossible for her to continue her work with the various social and church groups. Surviving are her husband; a daughter, Josephine, Ionia; two brothers, Dr. Dudley Smith of Alto and Max Smith, Ionia, and a sister, Mrs. Winifred Skinner, of Long Beach, Calif. Rev. Henry A. Hanson officiated at the funeral service held from St. Johns Episcopal church Wednesday afternoon. Burial was in Oak Hill cemetery. Pall bearers were: Palmer Welch, Lee Yates, Fred Wortman, Oliver Hood, Herbert C. Hall and James Williston.
