Burnett, 75, of 126 E. Lytle St., Ionia, died Feb 21 in Ionia Manor. She was born March 18, 1906, in Ionia, the daughter of Asa and June Smith Burnett. She graduated from Ionia High School in 1924, and attended Central Michigan University and Wayne State University and St. Mary’s Episcopal School for Girls in Knoxville, Ill. She is survived by cousins. She was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, a member of the Detroit Women’s City Club for 27 years, the Grand Rapids City Club, the Ionia County Historical Society, and a member of the Altar Guild of St. John’s Episcopal Church. She was also a Sunday School teacher and chairperson of the needlepoint project at St. John’s. She served for six years as a volunteer worker for Meals on Wheels. A requiem will be recited Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church, with Rev. Vincent J. Anderson, the rector, and Rev. Charles Lynch, former rector and now rector of St. James’s Church, Milwaukee, as concelebrants. Interment will be in Oakhill Cemetery. Visiting hours at Leddick Funeral Home will be Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A memorial for St. John’s Episcopal Church has been established, in the care of the funeral home.
