He was born Dec. 15, 1938 in Carson City, the son of John and Beulah (Seifried) Burns. He retired in 1989 from Michigan Reformatory after 26 years of service. He was a member of the Ionia Moose Lodge and the Ionia Elks Lodge. He is survived by two sons, Anthony (Coni) Burns of Ionia and Michael Burns of Grand Rapids; four daughters, Diane (Darrell) Hillabrant of Ionia, Lynne Burns of Palo, Jackie (Brian) Halfmann of Ionia and Kathy Antes of Texas; 11 grandchildren; his mother, Beulah Clark of Alma; three brothers, Terry Burns of Diamondale, Tony Burns of Allegan and Denny Burns of Florida; two sisters, Joan Christedes of Detroit and Mary Sue Raycraft of Lansing; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise on Aug. 11, 1991; his father, john L. Burns and one brother, Jim Burns. Memorial services will be held Monday at 11 am at the Cook Funeral Home, Rich St. Chapel, with Fr. Charles Hall of SS. Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church officiating. Interment will be in the spring in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Helping hands of Ionia. Envelopes are available at the Cook Funeral Home, Ionia.
