Ionia Sentinel Standard, 5 May 1924

The death of Dennis Burns occurred Saturday afternoon at his home in Muir to 
which he moved recently from the former home on M-16 west of the city.  He was 
the father of James Burns, who met a tragic death on the railroad near Saranac 
recently.  There are six living children – Bernice, John, Joseph, and Edward of 
Muir, Mrs. Walter Priest, of Ionia, Mrs. Glen Vincent, of Lapeer.  The funeral 
will take place from the Church of Christ in Muir Tuesday afternoon at 1 
o’clock and interment will be made in Saranac cemetery.  The deceased was born 
at Louisdale, Can., November 20, 1843, and was therefore in the eighty first 
year of his age.
