The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Saturday, April 4, 2009

William H. “Bill” Burras, of Ionia, age 86, loving husband, father and 
grandfather, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 2, 2009. 

He was born on November 17, 1922 in Ionia the son of William and Bernice 
(Blough) Burras. Mr. Burras was a member of Shiloh Community Church and 
retired from General Tire in Ionia after 42 years of service. He enjoyed being 
an amateur radio operator, and also loved carpentry work. 

He married Jewell (Marcell) on January 31, 1948 and she survives him. Also 
surviving are 2 daughters, Carol Nelson Sweet (Norm) of Orleans and Debra 
Selleck (Keith) of Byron Center; 4 grandchildren, Nathan William Nelson, Shad 
(Kristin) Selleck, Brad (Elizabeth) Selleck, and Angela (Doug) Fox; 1 great 
grandchild, Drake Selleck; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death 
by his parents; sister, Doris (Earle) Leathers. 

The Funeral Service will be held at 11 am Monday, April 6, 2009 at Shiloh 
Community Church with Rev. Kenneth Harger officiating. The interment will take 
place at Easton Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Schrauben-
Lehman Funeral Home, 220 Rich Street, Ionia from 4-7 p.m. Saturday. For those 
desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Shiloh Community Church in 
memory of Mr. William H. "Bill" Burras.
