The Ionia Daily Standard, Tuesday, April 30, 1901


Sam Burroughs, the colored man whose transfer to the county house was noted in 
yesterday’s issue, died early this morning.  Deceased had a little plantation 
of two acres in south Ionia township, a niche out of one corner of the farm now 
owned by Emory W. More, which will sell for enough to pay expense of burial, 
and the remains will be interred in Highland Park.
