On March 6, 1860 she was united in marriage to Alfred Burt whom she had known from childhood they having been playmates together. To this union were born five children, four sons and one daughter, the following being those still living Chas. Burt having died in 1893, S. W. Burt, Decatur, Ill., Frank Burt, Sidney, same state, Mrs. Chas. Kart of this city and George Burt of Clarksville. For some years after their marriage they lived in the neighborhood of their old home, then they came to Michigan staying but a few years when they returned to Rochester, N. Y. for about five years after which they moved back to Michigan settling near Clarksville, Ionia county where they have lived for the past 32 years. Sister Burt during all of these years had been a very faithful and efficient church member and worker being a member of several church societies among these being the Ladies Aid. Her long and faithful service was brought to a close by her being called to her heavenly home on Tuesday morning, June 21, 1910, having lived in this world 74 years and 26 days. ---- Mary Jane Warren-Burt It will be with a great degree of sadness that the many friends of Mrs. Al-… [ missing words]…when all further efforts to cure the cold seemed to be futile. She did not get better and it soon developed into Bronchial Asthma which was the cause of her death which took place Tuesday morning. Mrs. Burt was well known in this vicinity although living near Clarksville for a great many years she had occasion to visit here a great deal, as her daughter, Mrs. Chas. Kart, has lived in this city for a number of years. As will be noticed in the obituary she was getting well along in years, she and her husband being the last members of the families which they represented. On the sixth of March this year, they celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary. She has enjoyed good health for the most of her life until she was so unfortunate as to break her hip last winter, but although the fracture became quite completely mended she had never entirely recovered. This probably had no immediate effect on the cause of her death except that it left her more feeble than before, thus a slight illness of any kind would not be as easy to be thrown off as under more favorable conditions. The deceased was a member of and an active worker in several of the church and literary societies of Clarksville, and also the Congregational church of that place where the funeral was held Thursday morning at 10 o’clock the sermon was preached by the Rev. Carrick, pastor, interment was made in Clarksville cemetery.
