The Ionia Weekly Sentinel, Thursday, June 28, 1906


While playing near the railroad track in the south part of the city Friday, 
the two-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Burt, was struck by a passing 
train and injured so badly that he died at four o’clock the next morning.  
Several children were at play, the older ones crossing the track ahead of the 
cars.  The little one thinking he could get across also, went so close that 
the connecting rod of the engine struck the side of his head, cutting a great 
gash.  

The funeral was held from the Catholic church on Monday morning at nine 
o’clock.
