Smith, in Danby, Monday morning, after having been confined to her bed since last October. Funeral services were held at the Smith home, south of Centerline bridge, on Wednesday afternoon, Rev. Robert Reynhout, of Portland Baptist church, officiating. Burial was in Danby cemetery. Bearers were Harold Guilford, Blanchard Rice, Carl Smith and Arthur Drake. Mrs. Burtless’ maiden name was Nora Kane, and she was born in Napoleon, Mich., June 15, 1861. Mr. and Mrs. Burtless came to make their home with Mr. and Mrs. Smith in 1926. The husband died in 1933. Beside the daughter, four granddaughters survive: Mrs. Clarence Rogers, Danby; Miss Mary E. Smith, Lansing; Miss Nancy Smith, Portland; Mrs. Alvin Kelly, Orange. There are also three great-granddaughters. Mrs. Burtless was a member of Danby Cemetery society and an honorary member of Danby Literary club.
