The Ionia Daily Standard, Friday, January 22, 1897

North Plains, Jan. 21—Died, at his home in North Plains, on Jan. 16, after an 
illness of four months, of typhoid fever, Mr. Israel Burtraw, in the 58th year 
of his age.  Deceased was a quiet, reserved man, honest and upright in all his 
dealings; a simon pure democrat in politics, and made the remark to your 
correspondent only a short time before he died, he was sorry Bryan was 
defeated.  The funeral was held at the N. P. church on Tuesday, Rev. John 
Dobson officiating.  

Frank Burtraw, of Lansing, has been on the Plains for several days.
