IONIA SENTINEL-STANDARD, MI, October 18, 1956: "Deaths - MELVIN I. BURTRAW, 67,
of North Plains township died at his home Thursday morning after a lengthy
illness. He had resided in and near Muir most of his life.

Surviving are his wife, Gertrude; a son, Russell of LaJolla, Calif.; one sister,
Ella Rich of Owosso; a brother, Lee of Eugene, Ore.; and two uncles, Jay Burtraw
of Portland, Ore. and Frank A. Burtraw of Muir.

Friends and relatives are being received at the Shaw-Rivett funeral home in
Muir. Funeral arrangements have not been announced."
