The Ionia Standard, Friday, December 27, 1895
May Strachan Burtraw died at her home on North Plains last Thursday morning at 
the age of 20 years, leaving a babe only a few weeks old.  She was the 
daughter of A. C. Strachan and wife, and something over a year ago was united 
in marriage with Frank Burtraw.  

Funeral services were held at Union church last Sunday afternoon, and it is 
reported there were 300 teams in the procession, thus testifying to the esteem 
in which she was held by those who knew her.  She attended school here one 
year, and during that time formed a large circle of friends.  At the age of 14 
she became converted and ever since has lived a beautiful Christian life, 
which crowns the other virtues which she possessed.
