The Ionia Daily Standard, Wednesday, January 12, 1898

John Busch died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Herman Yahnke, 343 Fargo 
street, at 6 o’clock last evening.  Deceased was of exceedingly amiable 
disposition, and was well thought of by those who had his acquaintance.  He 
had been ill for several months, but was thought to be rapidly recovering, and 
death came to him suddenly and singularly while he was congratulating himself 
and daughter (who was taken sick a few days before) that he would be able to 
repay her for the care she gave him by ministering to her wants.  Funeral will 
be attended on Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock from St. John’s Lutheran church.
