Bush, 83, of Belding, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2006, at The Laurels of Kent, Lowell. Bill was born on May 19, 1923, in Remus, the son of Lafe and Grace Main Bush. Bill graduated from Lakeview High School with the class of 1941 and was a proud veteran, serving the United States Army during World War II. For many years Bill was a self-employed house painter, having painted many homes in the Belding and Greenville areas. He was a member of Turk Lake United Methodist Church, a life member of American Legion Post 203 and VFW Post 4406 in Belding, where he served as past commander. He was also a member of Belding-Ionia Masonic Lodge F&AM 355, where he served as past worshipful master. He was past worthy patron of Doric Chapter No. 75, Order of Eastern Star, past member of the Allegan Eagles and was Seam Squirrel of Cooties Pup Tent No. 76. He was married on Dec. 11, 1954, in Belding, to Betty Barnes Gregory. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Donna Crawford; and brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Bernita Bush. He is survived by his wife, Betty; their children, Dawnette Jessee of Lapeer, Timothy and Jan Bush of Bombay, Fla.; Bonita and Art Buda of Mexico, N.Y., Ross and Debra Gregory of Belding, Charles H. and Connie Gregory of Grant, Craig and Peggy Gregory of Gowen; 18 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Elton Crawford of Lake City; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services are 11 a.m. today at Turk Lake United Methodist Church with Pastor Kay Welsch officiating. Private interment will follow in Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding. Memorial contributions may be given to Turk Lake United Methodist Church or a charity of one’s choice. Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding, is in charge of arrangements.
