Ionia Sentinel Standard, 24 Jul 1929

Mrs. Harriet E. Bush, 96, widow of the late William Bush, a pioneer merchant of
Ionia, died in Grand Rapids Tuesday evening of the infirmities due to old age. 
The funeral services will be held at the Ionia Methodist Episcopal church of
which she has been a member for many years, Friday morning at 10 o’clock.  These
will be conducted by Rev. W.F. Kendrick.  The interment will be in the Highland
Park cemetery.

Mrs. Bush was born in Rose Township, Oakland county, and came to Ionia with her
husband about 60 years ago.  Mr. Bush erected the store building now occupied by
the Spaulding cigar store and placed a general merchandising stock on the
shelves.  Twenty years later, he sold his business interests and bought a farm
in Sebewa township, now the home of Orin Daniels.  He died 32 years ago.  After
his death Mrs. Bush disposed of the property and went to Grand Rapids to live
with her daughter, who died several years ago.  While in Ionia they built a
brick house on West Main street which is the last one before the wall under the
railroad viaduct.

She is survived by two sons, John, of Columbus, O., and A.L. of Chicago, Ill. 
Also the following grandchildren, Ernest Bush and Cecil Bush, Chicago; Earl
Bush, Columbus, O., and Mrs. Mildred Moll, of Grand Rapids.
