Bushong, 81, of 151 East, Pewamo, died early Sunday morning at the Ionia Memorial hospital after being a patient three days. Born in Pandora, Ohio, May 21, 1893, he was the son of James and Mary Klein Bushong and attended school in Ohio. He served with the army in World War I. January 30, 1919, he was married in Lyons to Ida Mae Stiles who died in December of 1973. Also preceding him in death was a daughter, Mrs. Jean Corey. He owned and operated a trucking service in the Pewamo area many years and was retired from Fisher Body in Lansing in 1960 after working there 18 years. He was a former school board member of the Pewamo public schools and was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic church. Surviving are two sons, Winthrop of Pewamo and William of Ionia; two daughters, Mrs. Virginia Werner of Ionia and Mrs. Anne Fahey of Muir; 22 grandchildren ad 13 great grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Virgie Oard of Beverton, Mrs. Margaret Casselmann of Mr. Morris, and Mrs. Anna Smith of Lansing. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic church in Pewamo, Monsignor Thomas Bolger will officiate and interment will be at the church cemetery in Pewamo. Parish rosary will be recited Monday at 9 p.m. at the Hull Memorial chapel in Muir.
