Bussell, 77, of 126 Miller, died Monday morning at Belding Community hospital after being a patient one day. He had been in ill health several months. Born in Stanton, June 27, 1894, he was the son of William and Nora Hunter Bussell. He lived on a farm near Stanton where he attended school. He then worked as a butcher at a meat market in Carson City. He was married to Bessie M. Cooper in Carson City, August 5, 1916. He entered World War 1 in 1918 and served with a machine gun company in France. Having received his army discharge in 1919 he returned to Carson City and worked at the elevator, moving to Ionia in 1929. He owned and operated a wrecking yard until selling prior to World War II then working at AC Spark Plug plant and Ypsilanti Reed Furniture Co and its successors retiring in 1959. He was a life member of VFW post and last living charter member of the post. Surviving besides the wife, Bessie, are three sons, William, Gerald and Tom of Ionia; three daughters, Mrs. Norman Newcomb of Ionia, Elsie and Pansy Bussell, both at home, 16 grandchildren and five great grandchildren; three brothers, Dave and E.J. of Carson City and Merle of Belleview; sister, Mrs. Mary Brace of Battle Creek. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Leddick funeral home. Rev. George Chaffee of Zion United Methodist church will officiate and interment will be at Balcom cemetery. Full military graveside services will be by Ionia VFW post. Family will be at the funeral home Thursday and Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. ------------ Rev. George Chaffee officiated at funeral services Saturday for Eston M. Bussell, who died July 5. Interment was at Balcom cemetery. Graveside military services were under the direction of Mitchell Bentley VFW post with Commander Arthur Draher in charge. Tape were under the direction of Carl Seabrook and the flag was presented the widow by Commander Draher. Bearers were Elton Perry, Fred Meyers, Mike Dean, Luke Finch, Larry Hansbarger and Howard Miller.
