Arwilda (Bill) Butcher, 91, of Saranac passed away Sept. 10, 2013, in Ionia.  
She was born July 19, 1922, in Clarksville, the daughter of Harry and Edna 
(Vandercar) Kauffman.  Arwilda married Thane Butcher in 1940, and he preceded 
her in death in 1984.  Arwilda loved to bake cookies, play cards and do yard 
work.  She adored her family. 

Arwilda is survived by her daughters, Carol (Jack) Chipman of Saranac, Sharon 
(Chuck) Toby of Lakeview and Joy (Steve) Klink of Eaton Rapids; daughter-in-law 
Jean Butcher of Ionia; brothers, Sam Kauffman of Ionia and Harry (Ed) and Ruth 
Ann Kauffman of Hastings; sister-in-law Crystal McClaren of Spring Lake; 13 
grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and nine great great grandchildren.  She 
was preceded in death by two sons, Roger and Carl; six sisters; and one great 
granddaughter.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, at the Lake 
Funeral Home in Saranac with Pastor Jerry Smith officiating.  Interment Saranac 
Cemetery.  Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday at the Funeral Home.
