Aug. 27, 2016 JOY C. BUTCHER 1937-2016 Joy C. Butcher, 79, of Ionia, passed away Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 23, 2016 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing. Joy was born on Jan. 6, 1937 in Ionia, the daughter of Jack and Alice (Stuart) Rudd. She graduated high school early from Lake Odessa High School with the class of 1954. She had a lifelong love of horses and horse racing, loved to travel, wintering in South Texas, being outdoors and enjoying the sun, researching genealogy, reading, watching NASCAR races and spending time with the family. joy was a kind person who was always willing to help others. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Joy is loved and survived by her children, Christian S. (Durenda) Roberts of Ionia, and Brenton W. (Linda) Roberts of Saranac; her grandchildren, Christian E. Roberts, Kendra Roberts, Brenton d. Roberts, Michael N. Roberts, and Jennah R. Roberts; her great- grandchildren, Drew, Connor and Kayla; her step-children, Eugene (Acia) Roberts of Utah, and Vickie (Mark) Barker of Muir; several step-grandchildren; several step-great- grandchildren; her sisters and brother, Janice shields of Ionia, Leon (Janet) Rudd and Karen (Larry) Morrow, all of Ionia She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband Eugene Roberts Sr. in 1989; her second husband Duane Butcher in 2007; and brother-in-law Douglas Shields in 2016. In keeping with her wishes, private family services will take place in Letts cemetery, Ionia. Memorial contributions may be given to American Diabetes Association or the American Kidney Foundation. Envelopes will be available at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding where funeral care has been entrusted.
