The doctor gave his opinion that he died from the effects of opium poisoning, and from the circumstances of the case, there is little, if any, doubt that it is a case of suicide. Mr. Butler has been ill for several days, but refused to listen to the suggestions of his children that he call a physician. His condition became so serious that a doctor was finally procured in spite of his objections, but it was then too late. It is thought that he has been taking overdoses of morphine for several days, and that this caused his illness, and finally death. An inquest is being held today, under charge of Henry Rogers, justice of the peace of Berlin. The cause of the rash act is supposed to be domestic infelicity, deceased having had much trouble with his wife, who has a suit for divorce now pending in court. There are five children, all grown to maturity. Deceased was 65 years old.
