He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Maybelle (Peggy), and his son James. Lyle is survived by his one son, Phillip and his special friend Linda Plank, of Kalamazoo, daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Arnie Chapin, four grandchildren, Debra Carslon, of Augusta, Ga., Brian Butler, of Richland, Scot Chapin, of Holland, Tracie Chapin, of Atlanta, Ga., and four great- grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Woodward, of Florida and two nieces. Lyle was born in Greenville and resided most of his life in Ionia, where he was a member of the First Methodist Church and Masonic Temple. He worked for and retired from the State Lottery Commission in Lansing. A memorial service will be held Friday, Feb. 14, at 11:30 a.m. at Memorial Alternatives, 2432 Fuller Ave. N.E., Grand Rapids, with Rev. M. Jacob Kaufman officiating. The family will greet friends for one hour prior to service time.
