Hanmer “Bud” J. Butler, 89, of Portland passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013. 
He was born on March 28, 1923 in Lansing, the son of Hanmer C. and Flaudie 
(Fleck) Butler.

Mr. Butler was a member of the U.S. Army during World War ll, was Past Post 
Commander of the Portland V.F.W. Post #4090, and former owner of Herm’s Freezer 
Meats in Eagle.

Bud enjoyed fishing, traveling and woodworking. He was a member of the Church 
of the Nazarene, a volunteer at the Portland Area Service Group, and worked at 
Portland High School, teaching carpentry classes.

Preceding him in death were his parents, and his wife Betty Butler.

Surviving are his daughter, Debra Butler of Lansing; brother, Jack (Betty) 
Butler; sister, Joyce McClung; nieces and nephews, Connie Pierce, Larry (Wanda) 
Green, Roy (Julie) Green, Lana Gloden. Yvonne (Craig) Sandborn, Brian (Sherri) 
Gensterblum, Noble (Rosie) Hartwick, Lana (Foro) Gevasa, George Carpenter, Tina 
(Wayne) Wieber, Diane (Steve) Butler, Rhett Butler, Randy McClung; many great 
and great-great nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Service will be held at 22 a.m. Monday, Jan. 7, 2013 at Lehman 
Funeral Homes, 210 E. Bridge St., Portland, with Rev. Daniel L. Stemen, Pastor 
of the Portland Church of the Nazarene presiding. Interment will follow at 
Chapel Hill Cemetery, Lansing. Military graveside honors will be provided by 
V.F.W. Post #4090. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. 
Sunday at the funeral home.
