Doris Marie Butler aged 69, of Ionia, passed away peacefully in her home while 
surrounded by her family, on March 25th 2006.  Doris was born on November 
21st, 1936, in Ionia, Michigan.  She was the daughter of Robert and Frances 
(Stephens) Reed.  Her greatest accomplishment was her faithful devotion to 
husband and children, to whom she taught the beauty of God’s love, sacrifice 
and forgiveness.  She was a member of the Ionia First Presbyterian Church, and 
the Women’s Auxiliaries of the V.F.W. Post 5065, and American Legion Post 37.

She is survived by her husband (Robert), whom she married almost 50 years ago 
on May 11, 1956; son David ( Rhonda) Butler of Ionia; daughters Lisa (Scott) 
of Sheridan and Connie (Jack) of Saranac; 10 grandchildren and one great-
grandchild; brothers Bob (Loma) of Saranac, Chuck (Vicki) Stephens of Ionia; 
Terry (Deb) Stephens of Ionia, and Jerry Stephens of Ionia.  She was preceded 
in death by her mother, Frances in 2005.

Memorial Services will be held at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia on Wednesday, 
March 29th, 2006. Family viewing will be held at 1:00 P.M., the funeral 
service will be held at 2:00 P.M. at Lake Funeral Home, with burial 
immediately following. Memorial contribution can be made to Ionia Hospice or 
American Cancer Society in Doris’ name.
