August 6, 1975 RALPH E.BYERS LAKE ODESSA-Ralph E. Byers, 87, of Woodland, died Tuesday at the Battle Creek Sanitarium hospital where he had been a patient three weeks. Born in Dowagiac, February 19, 1888, he was the son of Leslie and Alma Watson Byers. He was employed at the Grand Rapids Press for 40 years and later at the Anderson Herald at Anderson,Ind.. July 21, 1950, he was married to Phoebe Oaks of Woodland, they lived in Anderson three years and the remainder of his life in Woodland. He was a member of the Woodland Church of the Brethren and was a veteran of World War 1. He was author of two books, The Munitions Maker of Galilee, and the Son John's Barn. His only survivor is his wife, Phoebe. Funeral services will be Thursday at 1:30 pm at the Pickens-Koops Funeral Chapel at Lake Odessa. Rev.Arthur Heisler will officiate and interment will be at Woodland Memorial Park Cemetery. Additional Comments: Woodland Memorial Park Cem.
