Funeral services were held Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic church at Miriam with
Rev. Fr. Charles Steves in charge of the service for Charles S. Byrne, 83, who
died Thursday at Ionia Rest home in Ionia where he had been for a week.

Mr. Byrne was the son of Michael and Maria Byrne and was born December 29, 1867,
in Grattan where his father was in various lines of business before going to the
farm near Pine Island lake.  Charles Byrne lived on a farm south west of Smyrna
until his wife, the former Anna Krupp, died seven years ago and since then he
had lived with his brothers, Alvin and Fred on a farm on the Lincoln Lake road.
 He is survived by his two brothers, Alvin and Fred and by one sister, Mrs.
Minnie Crysler of this city.

The rosary was recited at Fitzjohn’s Funeral Home Friday evening and after the
funeral at 10 o’clock on Saturday, the interment was made in St. Mary’s cemetery.
