Byrne, 76, of Saranac, went home to be with his Heavenly Savior on Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013. Ray was born on July 22, 1937, in Belding, the son of Kenneth and Emma Margaret (Bookey) Byrne. Ray graduated from Belding High School with the Class of 1956. He was a Faithful Servant of Jesus Christ and had a passion for people to know his Savior. He loved serving the Lord by helping people in any way he could. He was a past member of Green Corners Baptist Church for 43 years and served in a variety of ways and a member for 13 years of Calvary Baptist Church in Greenville. Ray was a faithful blood donor giving 17 gallons. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cutting wood and spending time with his family. Ray was a group leader for 43 years at Belco, retiring in 2006. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Ray married Glenna Marie Higgins on July 27, 1957, in Belding and she survives along with their children: Rex Byrne of Grand Rapids, Lynnette Sue (Kumi) Kumamoto of Riverside, Calif., Edwin (Christy) Byrne and Paul (Sue) Byrne, all of Belding; grandchildren, Lynlee Kumamoto, Thomas Kumamoto, Derek Byrne, Katelyn (Jef) Mogdis, Bryan Byrne, Chris Denham, Brooke Denham, Holly Byrne and Bradley Byrne; great grandchildren, Brooklyn Sayers, Thomas Byrne, Addison Byrne and Lynzee Mogdis; brothers and sisters and their spouses: Geraldine Messacar, Joann Russell, Deloris (Robert) Crissman, Rita (Roger) Gotwalt, Margaret (Ervin) Bradley, Ken Byrne, Gene (Rosie) Gary (Sheryl) Byrne and John (Janice) Byrne. He was preceded by his parents, Ken and Emma Byrne; in-laws Glen and Jessie (Blough) Higgins; one sister-in-law, Nancy Byrne; one brother, Edwin Byrne; one grandson, Caleb in 1987; and two brothers-in-law, Larry and Lyle. Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 21, 2013, at Calvary Baptist Church, Greenville with Pastors Mark Shaw, Dan Mead and Dan Maguire Sr. Private committal prayers will be in Easton Township Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013, at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding.
