Prayer at the home of Mrs. Addie Ryerson was followed by funeral services in 
the First Methodist church Wednesday afternoon for Mrs. Eva Bywater, 78, who 
died Sunday night after a lengthy illness.  Rev. Warren E. Brown conducted the 
rites, with burial in Portland cemetery.  Mrs. Walter Green sang.

Pallbearers were Floyd Martin, Arthur Nunneley, Roy Higbee, William McClelland, 
Fred Klotz, and Jack Hill.

Mrs. Bywater had lived here 23 years, coming from Lake Odessa with her husband, 
the late William Bywater.  She was a member of the First Methodist church and 
the Rebekah lodge.

Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Ella Burton, Nashville; three daughters, Mrs. 
Cora Hay of Grand Rapids, Miss Florence Bywater of Detroit, and Mrs. Addie 
Ryerson of Portland, and one son, Carl D. Bywater.  There are four 
grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends from out-of-town to attend the funeral were:

Detroit; Mrs. Myra Bywater, Lake, Mich.; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Bywater, Midland; 
Howard Bywater, Lansing; Mr. and Mrs. Will Tissue, Sparta; Mrs. Earl Houghton 
and Mrs. John Smith, Blanchard; Mrs. Dr. Franklin, Remus; Mr. and Mrs. Frank 
Smith, Dexter; Mr. Arthur Bywater and son, Walter of Marysville, Ohio.

Mr. Bert Smith, Grand Ledge, Mich.; Mr. and Mrs. Lee Jones, Kalamazoo; John 
Miller, Lake Odessa; Mrs. Homer Pierce, Woodbury; Mrs. Alta Braden, Lake 
Odessa; Mrs. Cora Hay, Lake Odessa; Mrs. Hatte Van Houten, Lake Odessa; Miss 
Clara Hay, Lake Odessa; Miss Hilda Smith, Mrs. Will Wells, Mrs. Carl Pierce, 
Mrs. George Geisel, Woodbury, and Mrs. Florence Stewart of Grand Rapids.
