About ten years ago she moved to Grand Rapids. Following a stroke her health gradually failed until death came while she was at the home of her daughter Mrs. Floyd Bates in Woodland. Besides her husband she leaves two daughters, the one at Woodland and a daughter Cleona of Grand Rapids. The funeral was held at the local United Brethren church Sunday afternoon, Rev. M. F. Wolverton, the pastor, preached and Mrs. Bert Mourer and Rev. Inez Martz sang accompanied by Miss Helen Hartz. Burial was in Lakeside Cemetery. Dora J. Buxton Bywater was born in Odessa township, April 9, 1869. She was the oldest of eight children born to James and Maria Buxton. Herbert Buxton, Myrtie DeMeranville, Mattie Webb, and Githa Buxton preceded her in death. Eva Einhardt of Battle Creek, Ella Mae Woodard of Ypsilanti and Vern Buxton of Grand Rapids have survived her. On May 4, 1899 she was united in marriage to George A. Bywater of Lake Odessa. To this union were born Hildreth L. Bates and Cleona E. Growell on the Bywater homestead in Odessa township. In 1881 she was converted in a revival held at the West Odessa U.B. Church and she united with the same church, later she transferred her membership to the First United Brethren church of Lake Odessa. When she moved to Grand Rapids the St. Paul’s Methodist and the Asbury chapel were her church homes. After several years of failing health she came to the home of her daughter Mrs. Floyd Bates about two years ago. The deceased passed away Friday, February 13, 1931. She was a devoted and living wife, mother and home maker. She was ready to help in time of sickness and death among her neighbors, friends and relatives. She was a patient sufferer. May we who are left strive to meet her in that bright land where there shall be no more pain. Interment was in Lakeside cemetery. Card of Thanks We wish to extend our most heartfelt thanks to the friends, neighbors and relatives for their many acts of kindness and all who assisted us in any way during the illness and death of our wife and mother, also do we wish to thank the singers, and Rev.
