Cadwell, an Old Ionian, Died This Morning. “The river bed Shelved downward and another one, Has passed into the world of love itself.” Almeron Case Cadwell, who for almost forty years past has been a resident of Ionia, departed this life Friday morning at 4 o’clock. He was born in Granby, Hartford county, Conn., July 14, 1810. He was one of a family of five children, two sons and three daughters, all having passed away except a Mrs. Woodard of Tecumseh, now at the advanced age of 96. On the first day of December, 1833, he married Christina Rich, in Prescott, Canada. Soon after he made Syracuse, New York his home and later removed to Painted Post. By occupation he was at first a machinist and moulder. He came to Ionia Oct 11, 1855, and was associated with Rich & Arnold in the mercantile business. He made a profession of religion while in New York, uniting with the M.E. church and continued in that connection in this city. Mr. and Mrs. Cadwell celebrated their golden wedding in 1883, and she was called to the better land Nov. 10, 1887. The poet sings, “A little while shall loved ones dwell apart.” That little while has past, and as believers in a reunion, his friends can think of a loving couple reunited never more to be separated. He leaves a family of five, two sons and three daughters. The funeral will be at the M.E. church next Sunday at 2 p.m. He was sick only a few days, being on the street last Monday, and was conscious to the last moment recognizing his family and friends. The remains can be viewed at the residence from 11 until 1 o’clock Sunday, interment at Highland Park.
