Mr. Cahoon was born at Ishpeming, Mich., August 5, 1892, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Cahoon, but had spent most of his life in Saranac and vicinity. He was united in marriage with Miss Jessie Hatch on October 20, 1914, who with their two sons, Laurence, 9, and Frederick, 4, and one daughter, Mrs. Frank Evert, survives him. Two other children preceded the father in death, Ida Pauline who died in 1922 and Robert James in 1927. He also leaves two brothers, Sheldon and Arthur Cahoon, of Saranac, and a sister, Gladys Cahoon, of Detroit. For the past 20 years he had lived in South Boston where his sterling character and fine personality endeared him to friends and relatives alike. Always ready to lend a helping hand to a friend and neighbor, active in civic, fraternal and social affairs of the community, he led a busy and useful life. He was a member of the Keene Grange and of the Gleaners. Funeral services were held at two o’clock Sunday afternoon, April 2, with burial in South Boston cemetery. Rev. Gehring of Saranac conducted the funeral service. Bearers were Carl Hatch, Paul King, Corwin, Clayton, Dewey and Ora Cahoon. Honorary bearers were Nelson O’Bierne, Edward Walter, Roy Ware, William ?utzman, Charles Ayers, John Freeman, Jay Parsons, Glenn Parsons and William H. Draper.
