Cahoon, 67, of Saranac died at his residence on Thursday morning. He was born in Keene Township on October 4, 1924, the son of Theron and Lula Hale Cahoon. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the VFW and American Legion of Saranac. He was married to Marilyn Gilmore on October 29, 1945, in Saranac. She preceded him in death on June 13, 1986. He is survived by three daughters; Kathy Bishop, Lori Silvernail and Kelly Dixon of Saranac; his brother Rex of Colorado; two sisters, Naurine Sloan of Haslett and Janice Kelly of Saranac; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, his grandson, and his sister. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Saranac Community Church, with the Rev. Stanley Hagemeyer officiating. Burial will be in Saranac Cemetery. The family will be at the Lake Funeral Home Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 8:30 p.m. Memorials have been established for the Ionia Area Hospice or the Boston/Saranac Depot Fund, in care of the funeral home.
